Event description

Description

To celebrate the re-opening of Exchange Specialty Coffee, we are very much looking forward to coming out to Adelaide to talk about, celebrate and share with you some of the freshest, most delicious coffees from Rwanda.

Exchange Specialty Coffee + Market Lane

At Market Lane Coffee, we strive to make a positive impact on, and contribution to the communities we are connected to. We take this approach to the way in which we buy coffee through the relationships that we establish at Origin. We endeavor to carry this emphasis all the way through to our wholesale partners who themselves will share our values, (and coffee) with their local communities.

In establishing Exchange Specialty Coffee, Tom Roden wanted to create a space which offered something more than just a transaction. Tom has created a community which encourages customers to engage with their baristas.

Needless to say, we all here at Market Lane are thrilled to have had the opportunity to partner with Tom and his team. Having just reopened this week following a refit and expansion into the site next door on Vardon Avenue, we wanted to take this opportunity to come out to Adelaide to celebrate the next chapter for Exchange and to introduce ourselves.

An insight into Rwanda

Furthermore, we are very excited to share with you an insight into the incredible coffee, people and culture of Rwanda. We have been purchasing coffee from Rwanda since 2009 and over this time we have been lucky enough to work with some truly incredible communities.

Specialty coffee has been a main driver of economic growth in Rwanda since the genocide in 1994. With this in mind, it’s easy to understand how when we buy coffee from Rwanda (in meaningful and sustainable ways), our purchases can have a deep and powerful effect on their developing economy.

The refreshing taste of a better future

In the spirit of community, the Sparkke Change Beverage Company will be joining us to provide refreshments with a social conscience.

Powered by nine young women in Adelaide, The Sparkke Change Beverage Company is a progressive social enterprise that is raising awareness and funds for important social issues through beer, cider, and wine – the great conversation starters of our generation.

Think booze with a social conscience, the refreshing taste of a better future. Sparkke is the voice of a community that wants to spark change by taking on issues like sexual consent, gender equality, Aboriginal justice, global warming, body image, censorship, asylum seeking, mental health, and marriage equality to name a few.

We hope that you are able to join us for a night of conversation about coffee and community at the newly re-opened Exchange Specialty Coffee.
