A New Paradigm In Working With Children With Autism & Their Families

For the first time in Australia, take advantage of this unique oppotunity to meet and learn from distinguished Professor Carmine Saccu.

Prof. Carmine Saccu is a leading child neuropsychiatrist, family therapy pioneer, and former Professor of the faculty of Child Neuropsychiatry at the Sapienza University in Rome. He is founder of many institutions in Italy. Most notable, the Roman School of Family Psychotherapy (RSFP in 1992 (following his former Centre, co-founded in 1975) where he provides clinical services, conducts research, and carries out clinical training.

As a leading Child-neuropsychiatrist, he is specialised in working with children, adolescents, and their families with issues related to antisocial behaviour disorders, autism, childhood psychosis, hyperkinetic children, and children with school problems (from learning disabilities to ADHD syndromes).

He has developed a distinctive approach to working with children in therapy, utilizing play and humour, recognizing children as masters in activating the ‘fantastical’ areas of the therapist. In processing these areas of resonance, Professor Saccu helps therapists to discover creative potential and new relational spaces.

In this seminar, Prof Saccu will share his lengthy experience working with children with autism and their families through a unique, creative and innovative approach he has exclusively developed. Through the use of case studies and audio-visual resources, Prof Saccu will introduce, discuss, and demonstrate his new paradigm in working with children with autism and childhood psychosis, and their families. Participants will gain new insights and perspectives into working with this group of children, fostering the creation of new and more appropriate models, tools and strategies.
