About this event
SAN ANSELMO, CA — Experience the sound of seductive Brazilian rhythms on a late summer evening. ECHO Chamber Orchestra and the Berkeley Choro Ensemble will present “A Musical Promenade II” on Saturday, September 17, at 6 PM at San Anselmo’s First Presbyterian Church.
Like ECHO’s original Musical Promenade concert in 2021, the evening will begin in the church courtyard with light chamber music performed by small ensembles of orchestra members. Listeners will relocate inside the church to hear the full orchestra play exciting Brazilian music known as choro, conducted by music director Daniel Canosa.
The collaboration between the orchestra and the Berkeley Choro Ensemble will feature works by Brazilian composer Léa Friere, renowned arranger Felipe Senna and members of the Berkeley Choro Ensemble. The concert will reprise a performance that took place in June at Freight and Salvage as part of the Berkeley Choro Festival.
ECHO plans two more concerts in the upcoming season, including the premiere of Over and Out, composed by Belinda Reynolds in conjunction with ECHO musicians, and Tumbao, an “homage and musical representation of urban dancing in Latin America” by the young Mexican composer Horacio Fernández.
Tickets are $25 will be sold at the door starting at 5 PM. To purchase online, visit https://www.echorchestra.com. Current Marin County COVID-19 protocols will be in effect.
