You are invited to the wedding of the century! Dednam’s sweetheart, Cordelia McAllister is marrying her college sweetheart, Hubert Denton. Knowing Cordelia, and her steel magnolia mother, Lucille McAllister (née Woodford), this will be the perfect wedding. Even if Lucille doesn’t approve of some of Cordelia’s silly modern wedding ideas. And her maid of honor choice—Charlene Randall (who has no pedigree whatsoever!). After all, Lucille has her own troubles: her younger daughter, Justine McAllister, has returned from her liberal Yankee college for the wedding with tattoos and ridiculous opinions about “the misogynistic, patriarchal symbolism of the traditional American wedding.” Fortunately, Hubert’s choice in groomsmen is a little more appropriate. His college friend, Ross Franklin, has no real family to speak of either, but at least he seems polite and respectful.
Cordelia has spent the last two years planning this wedding—it’s going to go off without a hitch! Unless something dreadful…like a murder…occurs. And if that happens, well, they’ll need the entire roster of guests (or audience, if you prefer) to help solve that mystery!
