A (Mostly) Veggie Affair: Cheat on Meat or Go Whole Beast!

ABOUT

Green City Market's A (Mostly) Veggie Affair celebrates the vibrant flavors of our farmers' local, seasonal produce. Six local chefs will represent #TeamVeggie and put their best veggie dishes forward to square off against the ever-so-lustful #TeamMeat dishes from GCM Junior Board chefs. Guests will have the choice to Cheat on Meat or Go Whole Beast, or indulge in both! And everybody gets to go sweet:)

This year, the event introduces a VIP hour from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in which a limited number of guests will have early access to try the offerings of the chefs, bartenders and brewers participating. In addition:

• Sponsored by Moet Hennessy and utilizing Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut and Belvedere Vodka, the mixology team at Maple & Ash will be creating a speciatly cocktail just for VIPers
• #TeamMeat will be enticing guests with an exclusive dish, and
• Boisset Collection wineries will be pouring a premium tasting, featuring a flight of their sustainable, biodynamic wines

DJ Megan Taylor will be spinning the night away.

PURPOSE

The (Mostly) Veggie Affair supports the Green City Market and its mission to provide a marketplace for purchasing sustainably grown food and to educate, promote and connect farmers and local producers directly to chefs, restaurateurs, and the greater Chicago community.

Proceeds from the (Mostly) Veggie Affiar go specifically toward the GCM's Link Card Assistance Program, which matches dollar for dollar, purchases made by customers using their Link Card (Illinois' Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly 'Food Stamps') at the market. This initiative increases the affordability and accessibility of healthy, nutritious and sustainably produced foods to low-income Chicagoans, while supporting small agricultural producers and bolstering the local economy.
