Sat, May 13, 2017, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Join "The World's Oldest Living Yoga Teacher" and award-winning author, Tao Porchon-Lynch, in a very special appearance in Rockland County! Tao is a living advertisement for how to tap into our human potential. Tao will be offering an inspirational talk and yoga practice, and will be signing copies of her books (available for purchase).
Tao is a Grande Dame of Yoga. In addition to growing up around spiritual giants such as Sri Aurobindo and Mahatma Gandhi, Tao’s teachers are the Who’s Who of the Yoga World from Swami Prahhavananda and The Maharishi to Indra Devi, B.K.S. Iyengar and K. Pattabhi Jois. She is uniquely equipped to spread Yogic insights, originating in India, to Westerners seeking enlightenment. She has trained and certified hundreds of yoga instructors, since founding the Westchester Institute of Yoga in 1982. Tao has over 70 years of yoga practice and more than 45 years of teaching yoga to students in India, France and the U.S.
In addition to marching with Gandhi (twice), Tao worked in the French Resistance under General Charles de Gaulle helping Jews escape the Nazis, and later trained over 2,000 American WACs (Women’s Auxiliary Corps) to entertain U.S. troops. She also worked in Hollywood, modeled professionally, and in recent years has become a wine connoisseur. At age 87, Tao became a competitive ballroom dancer and has since won over 700 first place awards with dance partners seventy years her junior.
Tao has been featured in Oprah Magazine, the New York Times, Shape, Huffington Post, and numerous others, and has appeared on the Today Show, Martha Stewart, and CNN. She is the author of Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master.
