The Long Island Writers House is proud to present a gallery opening and poetry reading by Renee Howard Cassese, who combines her talent as a poet and artist in a unique blend of whimsical and thoughtful mixed media artwork.
Renee's beautiful and affordable art will be available just in time for Mother's Day!
Renee’s poetry collections include I Am, My Mother’s Only Poem and Like a Lotus. Her short story collection is Looking Through Windows. Renee's poems, short stories and personal essays have been published in anthologies, print journals and online literary journals.
Renee is contemplative and enjoys exploring eastern traditions such as yoga, t’ai chi, meditation and Japanese forms of art and poetry. She considers herself a creative introvert who succeeds at completing her writing and art projects despite her tendency toward bouncing from one genre or creative medium to another.
She is a member of the Haiku Society of America, The United Tanka and Haiku Society, Tanka Society of America, Romance Writers of America and the Long Island Romance Writers. Presently at work on the first in a series of romantic women’s fiction, Renee is a retired Special Education Teacher and School Administrator. She holds a Masters’ Degree in special education, certification as a school administrator, certification as a journal writing instructor and as a teacher of adult education.
