ABOUT:

Book by Hugh Wheeler, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and directed by Tim Fort A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical treatise on love, longing, and memory, is a waltz-time romance-for-the-ages with an acclaimed score featuring his most enduring song “Send in the Clowns.”

Based on Ingmar Bergmann’s only comic film (Smiles of A Summer Night), the story is set in rural Sweden at the start of the 20th Century when a weekend in the country brings together a group of lovers and rivals – including a small-town lawyer, a famous actress, a vainglorious dragoon, and their spouses, children, and entourages. The result is intrigues, new understandings, late-night confessions, beautiful harmonies, and, most importantly, a generous helping of romantic revelation with a touch of the moon.

This production of A Little Night Music, staged by the Dan School’s resident Sondheim aficionado, Tim Fort, features more than two dozen performers and musicians working together under the music direction of maestro Darrell Bryan. The extraordinary production team of over forty designers, technicians, and scenic artists has turned Theological Hall’s Rotunda Theatre into a perfectly intimate environment for an evening of non-stop romance.

Pay-what-you-can preview performance on Wednesday, February 28 at 7:30pm
