A Kids' Guide to Canada - By Kids, For Kids ~~~ Un guide du Canada - par les enfants, pour les enfants
This nation-wide project offers children of Canada from 4-14 an exciting opportunity to contribute in a lasting and meaningful way to the celebrations of Canada's 150th Birthday in 2017. With their teachers' support, students will be asked to honour and celebrate the land and the people of their home communities by creating their choice of digital materials in their native language: photographs, artwork, stories, storymaps, songs, webcasts, tours, interviews, videos, etc. These will then be posted online by their teacher in the central Kids' Guide space.
Classes can then use their choice of old or new technologies to connect with Indigenous and non-Indigenous children across Canada's vast physical and cultural landscape to connect, create, and collaborate together. By playing and working together as children, participating in this project will provide Canada's youngest citizens a chance to develop positive inter-cultural relationships based on mutual understanding, empathy, respect, and support.
