Event description

Description

Come enjoy some incredibly passionate and moving piano music in the intimate setting of Rachel's living room in Avondale. You'll laugh, relax and enjoy the evening as Rachel performs her music on her beautiful concert grand piano and shares the stories behind the music. If you're keen, you could even listen from underneath the piano!

Rachel's next recording session for her epic, year-long project 'The 52' will be in the week prior to this concert, so this will be a great opportunity to hear completely fresh and unreleased music as well as the hits. There will be a giveaway as well as some fun, delightful surprises at the piano.

Arrive from 7pm with the music starting at 7:30pm. Feel free to bring a snack or something to drink. CDs and songbooks will be available for purchase, and Rachel would be happy to sign them for you!

The ticket price is a suggested donation because the artist relies on your support, but she doesn't do it for the money. If you're fortunate enough that you can afford it, give $20 or more per ticket to support her work. She's worth it! If that's difficult for you to afford right now, give what you can, or even nothing, but be here. Please be here. Enjoy a night out and a great concert, because you're worth it. It's about the music. It's about your experience.

Rachel LaFond is an American composer and pianist currently living in New Zealand. She grew up in Seattle, steeped in musicality, pursuing training as a classical concert pianist. She lived in Vienna and studied piano performance there as a teenager, then returned home to major in piano at the University of Washington. After university, she continued to teach and perform professionally. Inspired by a gap year of world travel, she began composing her own music and released her debut album in 2017. Her fine-tuned technique, natural instinct for songwriting, and deep belief in the piano as an ideal tool for authentic expression shine through during her compelling performances. She has released three albums of music and is currently producing new music weekly as part of a yearlong project called The 52. Rachel’s music combines a technically proficient approach to composition with an instinctive ability to draw in the listener and convey profound emotion. www.rachellafond.com
