Description

A Home on the Range: Alaska Wood Bison Restoration Teacher Field Trip is a professional development workshop and a 580 level credit course for teacher recertification. Come learn about this extensive project, the natural history of Alaska Wood Bison, habitat needs, partnerships and more. Learn how to engage students in this unique restoration project, how it came to be and how the bison are doing now. Tom Seaton, Fairbanks biologist will be performing wellness checks where we'll get closer to the animal itself. Enjoy 2 days out at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where you'll be close to the research and the resource. Great cross section between, science, civics, partnerships and pioneering this groundbreaking reintroducation.

Lead by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Wildlife Conservation Division.

*This one credit course is offered in coordination with the Anchorage School District Summer Academy. Participants do not have to be ASD teachers. See the ASDSA website for more infomration.
