A holistic, inclusive framework for understanding the values of culture
Welcome to this online-only global event!
As a side event for MONDIACULT 2025, join us for a presentation and enlightening discussion about a new theory for understanding the values of culture through a holistic and inclusive framework. This event aims to explore the diverse aspects of global cultural activities and how they shape societies. You will be invited to analyse your own experience of cultural activities using a draft framework of 8 domains of the values of culture, and to help refine the theory while learning about new tools for cultural policy and cultural management.
Don't miss this opportunity to engage with experts in the field and gain valuable insights into the value of global cultural activities.

Frequently asked questions
The framework has been developed by Dr Hugh Brown, and Australian researcher at the University of Leeds, UK. It has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and is now being refined in consultation with cultural policy-makers and practitioners.
No, it is part of an emerging Unified Theory of the Value of Culture, which is a work-in-progress. This workshop will introduce the theory via MONDIACULT 2025 to cultural policy makers and practitioners from around the world. It seeks advice about the framework's completeness and accuracy.
Yes, absolutely! The workshop will first introduce the theory, and then invite you to apply the 8-domain framework to your experience of cultural activity. You will be asked to discuss how it works and to tell the organisers what you think via an online survey form.
