Event description

Description

A History of Early Blues is the highly acclaimed sell-out Fringe show featuring multi-award winning blues guitarist and ‘one of the darlings of the Australian blues scene’ Cal Williams Jr, double-bass maestro Kory Horwood and blues percussionist Dom Smith.
This show will lead the audience through the early days of the Mississippi Delta blues travelling through the music of Son House, Bukka White, Mississippi John Hurt, Rev. Gary Davis, Leadbelly, Charley Patton and more. In Part 1 of the show the trio will cover the pre-1930s Great Depression blues artists and Part 2 will explore post-Depression blues performed on a variety of old-time and modern instruments from cigarbox guitar, tea chest bass, ukulele, resonator and electric guitar.
Catch this show before it’s sell-out 2020 Fringe season!
“The effortless musicanship of this trio was in evidence from the get-go. Here are three World class musicians, all with strong stage presence, delivering a tight but free-flowing night of the most seminal music of our time. This is music at it’s best in one of the cosiest and most atmospheric venues in Adelaide. These guys are the real deal and this show is an all-round gem.*****” - Glam Adelaide
