Event description

Description

Join Together We Will North Carolina, Indivisible Guide, and Maureen Joy Charter School for a Racial Equity Institute's A Groundwater Approach to Racial Equity

Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10 am - 1 pm in Durham.

Registration open now!

Educate Yourself. A Groundwater Approach to Racial Equity is a 3-hour introduction to Racial Equity. In this lively and participatory presentation, REI organizers will use stories and data to present a perspective that racism is fundamentally structural in nature. By examining characteristics of modern-day racial inequity, the presentation introduces participants to an analysis that most find immediately helpful and relevant.

We do not want cost to be a reason you cannot attend. The suggested contribution for registration is $20, but we have a sliding scale with options at $5, $10, and other amounts. Contributions accepted at the door as well. 100% of the contributions will go towards the actual costs of hosting this training. In the event we get contributions in excess of costs, we will donate them a racial equity training scholarship fund.

Childcare will be provided at no additional cost with providers certified in CPR.

The Racial Equity Institute is an alliance of trainers, organizers, and institutional leaders who have devoted themselves to the work of creating racially equitable organizations and systems. They help individuals and organizations develop tools to challenge patterns or power and grow equity.

Advance registration strongly encouraged to reserve your space!
