About this event
Operation ARTS Foundation presents “A Ghostly Gathering,” a free event for the opening reception of our new Free Little Art Gallery in Takoma Park, Maryland. This piece is also part of our public art project “Art M.A.G.N.E.T.” which stands for (Mini Art Gallery Neighborhood Entertainment Tour.) The event will be an outdoor event on Sunday, October 30th from 12-3 PM in front of Park View Apartments located at 7667 Maple Ave. Takoma Park, MD, 20912. We will kick off the event with a tiny ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by an introduction to all the contributing organizations to the project. The day's festivities will also include light refreshments, candy, and a tiny art-making workshop where the community can participate in the creation of the art to be included in the inaugural exhibition for the installation. We will also be holding a costume contest and giving out prizes for the best costumes, SO COME DRESSED TO IMPRESS!!!
Art M.A.G.N.E.T. public art projects are creative beacons in communities. At these mini-galleries, anyone will be able to make art, leave art, or take art as a way to share their stories and perspectives with the community. In addition to sharing their art, they can also share their stories on our social media pages Facebook and Instagram by tagging @artmagnetmd. We will also be finishing filming our documentary that covers our organization's journey in creating this public art project, the tiny art contributions, as well as stories about art created by the community. Even if you're not able to make the event please stop by and participate in this ongoing project at your convenience. This project is cosponsored by City of “Takoma Park's Arts and Humanities Division” and the “Takoma Park Arts and Humanities Committee.” Thank you so much for your contribution, your support helped to bring this project to life! This is a public art project created to showcase Maryland’s creatives through miniature art galleries placed amongst local established landmarks and parks throughout Maryland.
