About this Event

Our presenter Herbert Quelle is an expert on German-American relations, and has recently returned to Germany after serving from 2016-2019 as the German Consul General to the Midwestern USA, encompassing 12 states (based in Hamburg’s sister-city Chicago). He is a harmonica enthusiast and will present the fascinating little-know story behind a German product that has been exported circa 250 million times to the USA. A recent story on Deutsche Well about the speaker can be seen here. The harmonica has played an essential role in defining the sound of American Blues, and inspired Mr. Quelle to write a book, Monika’s Blues.

As a further treat, the former Consul General plans on playing some tunes on the harmonica as part of his presentation. This event will be held in the cosy, quaint Calistoga Wine Saloon. The owner Beverly Ann Thoma, provides a fantastic selection of wines to the community, and attendees will be served a nice menu of delicious foods (included in the price). Please note that drinks are not included.
