Event description

Description

The UC Davis Policy Institute and the Environmental Justice Coalition for Water (EJCW) cordially invite you to participate in a Forum on Drought Resilience for Small Water Systems.

Small systems make up close to 86% of California’s drinking water systems; many of which serve disadvantaged communities. Over the past two years, a research team at UC Davis has sought to understand small system drought impacts and responses, as well as barriers to long-term drought and climate resilience.

Forum Goals:

  • Present preliminary findings from 60+ interviews and 3 regional workshops including barriers to and strategies for drought resilience among small water systems.

  • Identify local and state policy opportunities to help small water systems be more resilient to drought.

Invited Participants:

State, Indigenous, and local policy makers, small water utilities, and other stakeholders with an interest in discussing and developing drought policy recommendations.

Forum Format:

Attendees will spend the majority of the forum discussing and developing policy recommendations that address small system barriers to future drought and climate change resilience through a combination of panels, speaker sessions, and roundtables.

Lunch and snacks will be provided. Any questions or concerns you have regarding the forum or this research should be directed to Meghan Klasic, mrklasic@ucdavis.edu.

**The findings from this forum, along with interview and regional workshop data, will be included as part of California's 4th Climate Assessment.**
