Description
Beacon Hill Musicians is returning to the stage in our second annual Concert to Benefit The Seeing Eye. The mission of The Seeing Eye is to enhance the independence, dignity and self-confidence of people who are blind, through the use of specially trained Seeing Eye dogs.
Our special guest artist will be pianist, composer and graduate of The Seeing Eye, Justin Kauflin. Named as 2012 Jazz Artist of the Year by Veer Magazine Justin has been described by Joe Lang of Jersey Jazz Magazine as "a stellar jazz player, composer, leader and producer...He has a touch and imagination that is immensely appealing". Dan Bilawsky of All About Jazz says "the young pianist possesses a touch that can only be characterized as sparkling, and he takes a rhythmic approach to the piano that pushes boundaries, yet remains wholly coherent and accessible at all times". Justin recently completed a successful European and North American tour to promote his new CD "Dedication" under the management of Quincy Jones.
Returning to the stage will be Rio Clemente ("The Bishop of Jazz"), Carrie Jackson ("The Divine Jazz Diva"), Grover Kemble (formerly with Sha Na Na and Za Zu Zaz), Rob Paparozzi (lead singer with The Blues Brothers Band and Blood Sweat and Tears) and Gene Perla (formerly with Sonny Rollins, Sara Vaughan and Nina Simone). We are also pleased to add to this year's lineup New Orleans native and veteran drummer Gordon Lane (performed with Dionne Warwick, Dizzy Gillespie and Stanley Jordan). The show will again be hosted by Marty Eigen, Leader of The Beacon Hill Jazz Band.
For those wishing to make a donation in lieu of a ticket purchase, please send your check (made out to The Seeing Eye, Inc.) to The Seeing Eye, P.O. Box 375, Morristown, NJ 07963-0375. Write "Festival of Sound 2" on the memo line of your check.
