Event Details

A Feminist Life is an event in memory of Dr Roona Simpson. Roona was a lecturer at the University of Glasgow, where she was a founding member of the Gender and Sexualities Forum. Her research and teaching focused on the sociology of intimacy and family life, and were informed by her feminist politics. Roona was also involved in feminist activism, including volunteering for Glasgow Women’s Library.

 

Former students, teachers, colleagues, collaborators and activists with be speaking about their ongoing work and the meanings of feminism in our everyday lives, and reflecting on Roona’s life and work.

 

Confirmed speakers include: Lynn Jamieson (University of Edinburgh), Rosalind Gill (City University of London), Roisin Ryan-Flood (University of Essex), Vanessa May (University of Manchester), Sarah Wilson (University of Stirling), Barbara Littlewood and Kristina Saunders (University of Glasgow) Wendy Kirk and Gabrielle MacBeth (Glasgow Women’s Library), Emma Ritch (Engender Scotland).


This event is open to all and is free to attend, but spaces are limited, so booking is essential

 

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, and a wine reception will follow.
