Event description

Description

It’s been 50 years since Dr. John W. Carlos’ historic race and social justice demonstration at the 1968 Olympic Games. Now his daughter Kimme Carlos, Executive Director and Founder of the Urban Mental Health Alliance (UMHA), is pleased to join Dr. Carlos for a historic talk on mental health, social justice and our hope for the future. This fundraising event is sponsored and hosted by the Black Pre-Medical Society of Princeton University. All funds raised will help to further UMHA’s mission to empower individuals and families in urban communities with information and resources on mental health, emotional wellbeing and recovery resources, like our newest program, Healthy Minds in Mercer County, launching this spring. Please register at Eventbrite or www.urbanmentalhealthalliance.org and join us for this momentous event. We deeply appreciate your support as we work to serve the urban communities of Mercer County.

Our sponsor and host, The Black Pre-Medical Society of Princeton University, seeks to empower the Black pre-medical community to tackle the unique issues that face underrepresented students in medicine, cultivate long-lasting connections between Black pre-med students, address community health challenges affecting the Black community, and provide the necessary support and resources catered to the specific needs of Black students as they ascend to medical school.
