A Dragon Arrives!
Mani Haghighi has been one of the most significant figures in Iranian cinema of the past couple of decades. A graduate of philosophy from McGill University and a member of a dynastic family of cultural figures, including his grandfather, legendary avant-garde filmmaker Ebrahim Golestan, Haghighi directed his first feature film in 2003, and has since enriched Iranian cinema as a director, writer and actor. He has collaborated with other influential artists, including Asghar Farhadi, for whom he co-wrote the screenplay for ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ and acted in ‘About Elly’. One of the most unique, stylish and provocative Iranian films of recent years, Haghighi’s latest directorial effort screened at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, to great critical acclaim.
CineIran Festival has partnered with The Iranian Students Association at York University and Phoenix Cultural Center to proudly host Mr. Mani Haghighi in Toronto for this special screening. This program is scheduled for December 3rd at Innis Hall University of Toronto (5.30-7:45pm) and will include an interview and Q&A session with the actor/director.
