Event description

Description

The Barbara Swartz End of Life Choices Lecture presented by Dr. Haider Warraich will explore both physician support and opposition to medical aid in dying. Dr. Haider Warraich is a young and brilliant new voice in the conversation about death and dying following others like Dr. Sherwin Nuland and Atul Gawande. Dr. Warraich’s debut book, Modern Death: How Medicine Changed the End of Life, explores the rituals and language of dying that have developed in the last century, and how modern technology has not only changed the hows, whens, and wheres of death, but the what of death. This presentation will discuss changes in end of life options and care, focusing on the role of medical aid in dying and Dr. Warraich's reasons for supporting it.

Questions and Answers will follow the presentation. Light refreshments will be served.

This event is free and open to the public.
