Event description
In the on-going "What Volunteer Managers Can Do About Racism" here's a discussion of the book, Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People

About this Event

As we continue our discussion on what Volunteer Managers can do about racism, we will use this Volunteer Management Roundtable as an opportunity to talk about unconscious bias, the attitudes towards people and/or stereotypes we hold without our conscious knowledge. These issues are addressed in the New York Times Bestseller book, Blindspot, Hidden Biases of Good People. Reviews say about Blindspot:

• Conversational . . . easy to read, and best of all, it has the potential, at least, to change the way you think about yourself.

—Leonard Mlodinow, The New York Review of Books

• Accessible and authoritative . . . While we may not have much power to eradicate our own prejudices, we can counteract them. The first step is to turn a hidden bias into a visible one…What if we’re not the magnanimous people we think we are?

—The Washington Post

You are asked to read the book (purchase on your own via at any bookseller – paper or e-reader) prior to this virtual gathering and be ready to discuss!
