Day with a Beeson Author
The Robert Smith Jr. Preaching Institute is pleased to offer a "day with a Beeson author" in three virtual conversations, featuring Dr. Michael Pasquarello III, Beeson Professor of Divinity and Director of the Robert Smith Jr. Preaching Institute, on the topic of "The Beauty of Preaching." He will share from his recently published work, "The Beauty of Preaching: Proclaiming God's Glory in Christian Preaching" (Eerdmans, 2020). Dr. Pasquarello has written this book to address the formation and work of preachers during a time of much cultural, political, church, and personal "ugliness." He looks to Scripture and the Christian tradition to recover the beauty of the Gospel which can transform the spiritual and moral ugliness of our self - centered, self - interested, and self - promoting ways. In this, we become what we believe: the beauty of God in Christ.
Each session will be held via Zoom from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CST.
April 12: "Preaching in a time of ugliness: preachers with beautiful feet" (Isa. 52:7)
April 19: "The humility of the Word: the gift of beholding the beauty of Christ" (John 1:14)
April 26: "The joy of preaching: sharing in God's good pleasure" (Eph. 1:1-17)
The cost for the three sessions is only $15; those who attend all three sessions will receive a copy of the book to be shipped out at the conclusion of the sessions.
