The natur&ëmwelt English-speaking Section is organising a guided excursion that will focus on the birds in the Ösling in the context of the Life Éislek project.
Life Éislek (Fondation Hëllef fir d´Natur): The overall objective of the project is to restore the diversity of wetland habitats at 11 sites in the Natura 2000 network in the Éislek region and improve the conservation status of three target species, namely:
Violet Copper (Lycaena helle) butterfly
Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra) bird
Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio) bird

Children are welcome to join the walk though they will need to be able to walk some kilometres. As the terrain is not suitable for prams / pushchairs, young children should be carried.
In case of good weather and if people prefer to have a nice walk, rather than focus on the birds, we will do a 5.7 km walk
If people prefer taking it a bit slower or spending more time watching birds, we will do a 3.9 km walk. We will probably also use this walk in case of bad weather.
As birds are rather timid, dogs are not permitted on the walk.
What to bring:
- Boots or sturdy footwear
- Hat and sunscreen
- Drinking water
- Bird identification book, if you have one
- Binoculars, if you have them
