A Cure for Charlie 3rd Annual Pickleball Tournament

Please join us for our 3rd Annual "A Cure for Charlie Pickleball Tournament" on September 16th at Chicken N Pickle Overland Park.

We continue to need your help in curing Charlie Fry and all kids suffering from SLC6A1. Last years event raised over $50k towards research and development for a treatment for this terrible neurological disease, please help us do it again this year!

Date: Saturday, September 16, 2023

Location: Chicken N Pickle Overland Park, 5901 W 135th St, Overland Park, KS 66223

Team Check-in: 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. 

Pickleball Tournament: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Indoor Courts (additional information will be emailed to each team prior to the event). NEW THIS YEAR - we will have two seperate tournaments, a competitive league with a max of 12 teams and a recreational league with a max of 24 teams. The format for each will be the same, the first hour and a half will be played round robin. After that it goes into a single elimination tournament. Everyone should play around 4 games! Prizes will be as follows.

Competitive Tournament - 1st place prize - each player on the winning tournament team get a trip for 2 to Mexico for 5 nights!!!

Recreational Tournament - TBD

Special Appearance by KC Wolf: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

Food and Beverages: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Brunch served in the Be Amazing room; 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Beverages served. Open to all Tournament Players and Spectator Tickets.

Presentation of Tournament Winners, A Cure for Charlie Thank You, Silent Auction Closes, and Social: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Open to all Tournament Players and Spectator Tickets.

Online Auction:

The Online Auction, which can be accessed through the A Cure for Charlie event website, will open on Wednesday, September 13th at 8 am CST and will close at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 16th. Bid on dozens of great items such as luxury vacations, event packages, food and beverage items and more! More details to follow.

Gift Card Pull:

Back by popular demand! For $25 each you will have a chance to draw a random gift card and could pull a card valued from $20-$50 to a wide selection of local and national businesses. The gift card pull will be open from 9 am until sold out during the event on 9/16.

Our Cause:

5-year-old Charlie Fry is a sweet and innocent boy who suffers from a rare disease called SLC6A1, which causes him to have seizures, autism, anxiety, OCD, behavioral issues, ADHD and cognitive delays. We are inchcing closer to developing a lifechanging treatment that will ultimately cure this disease and improve his quality of life.
