Please join us for lunch and a conversation with state Senator-elect Dawn Buckingham and state Representative-elect Hugh Shine, moderated by Texas Tribune co-founder and CEO Evan Smith.
Buckingham, R-Lakeway, a practicing oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon, was elected in November to represent District 24 in the Texas Senate. She has served as vice chairwoman of the State Board for Educator Certification and as the lieutenant governor’s appointee on the Sunset Advisory Commission. Buckingham has also served as a trustee on the Lake Travis Independent School District board.
Shine, R-Temple, was elected in November to represent District 55 in the Texas House, a seat he held for two terms nearly 30 years prior. In the interim, he has served as a financial adviser in Temple. Previously, Shine served as mayor pro-tem on the Temple City Commission and he is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with nearly 30 years of military service.
This event will be held in the Leopard Room in the The Pavilion (#28 on the campus map). The event is free and open to the public and includes a light lunch. Visitor parking is available in front of the building.
