Please join the San Francisco Republican Party for a discussion with Professor John Yoo and Justice Daniel Kolkey (ret.) about the recent Supreme Court cases and also revelations of the NSA PRISM program.

John Yoo is a professor of law at U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law. Professor Yoo served as a clerk for Justice Thomas, and later as a Deputy Assistant U.S. Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice under President George W. Bush. Professor Yoo is also the author of several books including The Powers of War and Peace: The Constitution and Foreign Affairs after 9/11 (University of Chicago Press, 2005); War by Other Means: An Insider's Account of the War on Terror (Grove/Atlantic 2006); and Crisis and Command: The History of Executive Power From George Washington to George W. Bush (Kaplan 2010); and co-author of Taming Globalization: International Law, the U.S. Constitution, and the New World Order (Oxford 2012).
 
Daniel M. Kolkey is a partner in the San Francisco office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  Prior to returning to private practice, Mr. Kolkey served as an Associate Justice on the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, in Sacramento for five years. Prior to his stint on the bench, Mr. Kolkey served as Legal Affairs Secretary and counsel to Governor Pete Wilson for four years. He has consistently been named as one of the top 100 attorneys in California by the Daily Journal, and in May 2010 he was appointed by the California Chief Justice to the California Judicial Council’s Appellate Advisory Committee for a three-year term.
