Young was named head of Texas A&M University in College Station in 2015. Previously, he served as president and tenured professor of law at the University of Washington, where he launched the Global Innovation Exchange in partnership with the university, the State of Washington and multiple international universities, as well as helped the university double its fundraising during his tenure. Prior to that, he served as president and distinguished professor of law at the University of Utah. Young also served as a law clerk to former Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and ambassador for Trade and Environmental Affairs in President George H. W. Bush's administration.
