Event description

Description

Join Dr Eboo Patel for a conversation on interfaith cooperation. For over fifteen years he has worked with governments, social sector organizations, and college and university campuses to help make interfaith cooperation a social norm.

Reception and book signing 6:00 p.m. with lecture 7:00 p.m. This is a free event.

Eboo Patel is a leading voice in the movement for interfaith cooperation and the Founder and President of Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC), a national nonprofit working to make interfaith cooperation a social norm. Eboo founded IFYC on the idea that religion should be a bridge of cooperation rather than a barrier of division. He is inspired to build this bridge by his identity as an American Muslim navigating a highly religiously diverse social landscape.

Named by US News & World Report as one of America’s Best Leaders of 2009, Eboo served on President Obama’s Inaugural Faith Council. He is a regular contributor to the public conversation around religion in America and a frequent speaker on the topic of religious pluralism. He holds a doctorate in the sociology of religion from Oxford University, where he studied on a Rhodes scholarship. For over fifteen years, Eboo has worked with governments, social sector organizations, and college and university campuses to help realize a future where religion is a bridge of cooperation rather than a barrier of division.

Come to this book signing. Dr Patel has published the following books:

Listen to this podcast "What is Interfaith Literacy?" from Dr Eboo Patel.

Quotes by Eboo:
“To see the other side, to defend another people, not despite your tradition, but because of it, is the heart of pluralism.” – Acts of Faith, 2007

“Pluralism is not a birthright in America; it’s a responsibility. Pluralism does not fall from the sky; it does not rise up from the ground. People have fought for pluralism. People have kept the promise. America is exceptional not because there is magic in our air but because there is fierce determination in our citizens.” – Sacred Ground, 2012
