"POU SOLÈY LEVE" (For a Rising Sun) Art Exhibition & Silent Auction
In April 2011, Ford Model/artist/humanitarian Monica Watkins was sponsored by Haiti's Hope and Friends of Hope Int'l. to visit the Diakonos Orphanage in Port-au-Prince and conduct art workshops with the children. In addition, Monica spent some time working with the highly acclaimed artist collective Atis Rezistans of Grand Rue, which has been featured by Anthony Bourdain and Art in America. The exhibit features paintings by the
orphans as well as sculptures by teenage artist Alex Louis of Atis Rezistans. All proceeds from the sale of the paintings and sculptures go toward essential supplies like beds, food, school tuition, and continued art education at the Diakonos Orphanage and to Mr. Louis.
