Event description

Description

It was nearly seven years ago when Kara Zordel walked into her first Community Day of Service, the “one-stop-shop” model event created by Project Homeless Connect that has since been replicated in more than 250 communities across the globe.

Years later, it was Kara’s vision to begin offering daily services with expert resource specialists so that those most vulnerable may receive vital care in an accessible and dignified manner. This program became known as Every Day Connect, or EDC. Since then, Kara has led the PHC team in the creation of Provider Connect service and learning events, service events such as Veteran Connect, Family Connect, LGBTQ Connect, and this past year celebrated the launch of the Mobile CareVan.

Kara is known for growing more than the programs of PHC, but for also being an incubator and mentor to help bring to fruition the ideas of a number of other orgnaizations in San Francisco, including HandUp, Lava Mae, and RePlate.

“What I've loved most about this work is that our PHC family of volunteers, collaborators, and donors understand that being a part of a community means more than just a place you live, but also means this is a place where you serve those who are vulnerable and in need. Until the day we walk down the street knowing our entire community is housed and safe, our community still has work to do. But if I've learned one thing in my time with you, my PHC family - together we can do ANYTHING. I often say once PHC family, always PHC family. So even as I step down and lovingly look at all we've done together, I'm so excited for PHC’s next chapter.” – Kara Zordel

Join us on October 26th to celebrate and honor all that Kara has done to turn Project Homeless Connect into the model of successful collaboration that is now replicated in 250 cities and four countries!
