Description

Join us November 13, 2019 for A Community Development Celebration commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD) and the 2019 Community Development Awards. Presented by Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers and LISC Twin Cities.

Together, community developers can ensure that all residents of our region have the opportunity to have and keep a high quality of life. To do this we must be bold. Join us as we celebrate inspiring and innovative individuals, projects and programs and set the stage for the next era of community development.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

2:30pm — 4:30pm: MCCD Community Development Conversation
MCCD is celebrating 30 years of collaborative community impact in building strong, stable communities. This event will be the culmination of a yearlong effort—through storytelling and a series of conversations—to elevate the impact and influence of community developers.

4:30 — 6:30pm: 2019 Community Development Awards (program starts at 5:30pm)
We want to hear from YOU about the individuals, projects, programs, and organizations who have made significant contributions to the community and who are boldly moving community development into the future.

A BOLD FUTURE:

Together we have built a robust ecosystem that has produced some of the most sophisticated community development in the country and created real results for people and neighborhoods. The stark fact is, however, that strong regional economic growth and prosperity have not benefited everyone and every place.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul region is home to some of the biggest racial gaps in income, employment, small business creation, and homeownership in the country. Rising pressures of gentrification and displacement are challenging the stability of the very residents and businesses who fought so hard through the recession, foreclosure crisis, or other negative forces—to improve their neighborhoods.

As we move boldly into the future, MCCD and LISC are committed to working collaboratively to creatively advance the work of community developers and our impact as a field.
