Description

A Los Altos Forward Community Conversation ***FREE COMMUNITY EVENT***:

"How San Francisco Saved Its Heart – and Your City Can Too"

Rick Laubscher by Rick Laubscher Author, TV Journalist, and President of The Market Street Railway and Museum Foundation

San Francisco was twice threatened with loss of its unique public transit operations beloved by many: first, the cable cars in 1947, then the trolleys on Market Street in 1982. Both times, a small group of citizens stood up to preserve their city’s past by helping others understand its importance and demonstrate its public value. One of the leaders of the streetcar campaign Rick Laubscher–Author, TV Journalist, 4th generation San Franciscan and President of the Market Street Railway and Museum tells both stories and the lessons he learned.

***Come and learn how residents and a grassroots preservation effort of its heritage assets became branded landmarks that continue to inspire, delight and add value to residents and community. Reception and book signing to follow presentation****
