Description

Become an Effective Advocate for Change

In the days following the 2016 Presidential election and the Women's March on Washington, countless women across the nation are making their voices heard in the political arena -- organizing around the issues they care about, participating in demonstrations, supporting candidates with their energy and vote and even stepping up to run for office at the local, state and national level. This lab offered by the President of VoteRunLead, which has trained over 2400 women to run for office in the last 6 months, will explore how you, as a college student, can be an effective advocate, help elect more women to political leadership, and make your voice heard.

Erin Vilardi is the Founder and Director of VoteRunLead, a national organization leveraging technology and training to accelerate the number of women in civic and political leadership. She first launched VRL as Vice President of Program and Communications at The White House Project, establishing the largest national political training program readying women for public office and civic life, training over 15,000 women. She has served as a Leadership Development Consultant for a range of clients, including the Yahoo! Business and Human Rights division and Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College, Columbia University, where she co-developed the Athena CORE10©.

co-sponsored with the New York City Civic Engagement Program (NYCCEP)
