Both The University of Oxford and Vincent’s Club believe that sport has an important place in Oxford life. Oxford has an international reputation for academic and sporting excellence. It is proud of the achievements of its many world-class sporting alumni, many of whom have made substantial contributions in their chosen sports, as well as in academia, public service and business. But sport helps all students, and whether they are an Olympian or an enthusiast, it supports the development of the life skills, confidence and wellbeing that lead to success in study, society and within the workplace.

We are seeking your support to help maintain and build on this tradition in a number of ways:

1. Support Oxford Sport

Oxford Sport is fundamentally run by students. From organising Varsity Matches to raising and allocating funding for the year, all club activity is student led. We want to provide student athletes with the ability to achieve their full sporting potential by providing funding for key elements such as high quality coaching and the general running of their club to ensure they have all the equipment and competition funding required. To make a real difference and to help create a legacy for student athletes for years to come, please consider making a general gift to Oxford Sport, or towards the central Coaching Fund. You can also nominate a gift to a Sport Club of your choice. Your generosity will take the pressure off students, allowing them to focus on their performance, improve the quality of Oxford sport and help facilitate that all important Varsity Match victory.

2. Support the Iffley Road Sports Complex Transformation

We want to be able to improve the student experience and make a major contribution to wellbeing by enabling our students, staff and the local community to lead active, healthy, productive lives. All of this requires the transformation of the resources and facilities on offer at the Iffley Road Sports Complex. Thanks to the generous support of alumni and friends we have already been able to launch several new facilities – including a sports hall and gym space – and we are now looking towards continuing the redevelopment of the rest of the site. If you would like to learn more about how to support the development of a new indoor sports centre and a grandstand complex at Iffley Road, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Michael Cunningham, Executive Director University of Oxford North America Office mcunningham@oxfordna.org and Sophie Gammage, Senior Development Executive – University of Oxford Sport sophie.gammage@devoff.ox.ac.uk

3. Support Vincent’s Club so that the very best students can come to Oxford and pursue their academic and sporting aspirations

Vincent’s Club is proud to have been at the heart of Oxford Sport for over 150 years. Through the generosity of its alumni, Vincent’s Awards are the largest block of funding to provide financial support to Oxford students with outstanding academic and sporting talent, for their athletic and sporting development. The Club is now seeking to sustain its position at the heart of Oxford Sport and further develop its charitable activities. The professional management of the Club and the administration of its expanding charitable activities depends on the generosity of alumni to supplement the subscriptions of 150 resident members, and all alumni members are encouraged to support the current generation with an annual gift of at least $150 or an unrestricted capital donation to help with property issues. Furthermore, following the death of former Vincent’s President Sir Roger Bannister, and with the encouragement of his family, the Club is now seeking to raise additional capital for the Sports Development Fund to endow at least one new major award in his name.
