Description
Something powerful happens when you give young people a chance to create public artwork. Something unique and exciting happens when that artwork inspires original, one-time-only, live performances.
Nonprofit organization Urban ArtWorks, which empowers local youth through the creation of public art, is throwing an art-inspired performance event, fundraiser and dance party—and everyone is invited!
[a Canvas. a Cause.] will be held Friday, September 27, 2013, from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM at MakerHaus studios in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood (122 Northwest 36th Street, Seattle, WA).
Early admission begins at 7:00 PM for VIP ticket holders.
a Canvas. a Cause. will feature four collaborative performances by artists across disciplines and genres, each one inspired by mural panels painted by Urban ArtWorks artists and youth specifically for the event. The goal is to showcase the talent and work of Urban ArtWorks, and celebrate the positive impact that creative expression can have on communities— an impact at the heart of Urban ArtWorks’ mission.
Following the performances, the original paintings will be raffled off to support Urban ArtWorks, along with other pieces of art donated by local artists.
Venue and fellow creative organization MarkerHaus will be outfitted with a bar for the event along with a food truck conveniently parked outside.
Once the live performances conclude, the event will transform into a dance party, with DJ DV One providing the soundtrack for the remainder of the evening.
