Kelitha Spence, a.k.a. Special K, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She is a first-generation American of Cuban and Jamaican decent.
Over the years, the ability to accept herself by embracing her identity unearthed her purpose, which is to inspire others to embrace and accept their uniqueness and use it to make a positive contribution to the world—a contribution only they can give.
Her poems are a reflection of her journey, and hopefully an inspiration for many to actualize their full potential. Kelitha is a poet, a seasoned teacher, a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a good friend.
Hopefully, it inspires all people to become as powerful as they were meant to be.
