About this event
The Boychoir of Ann Arbor, led by Music Director, Dr. John Boonenberg, proudly presents the 36th annual "A Boychoir Christmas" featuring the unique and glorious sound of this outstanding choir singing beloved classics and modern settings of beautiful choral Christmas repertoire. Award-winning organist Dr. Naki Sung-Kripfgans will accompany “A Boychoir Christmas.”
The traditional processional hymn "Once in royal David's city," with soaring boy soprano solo, and Alan Bullard’s virtuosic “Glory to the Christ Child” are sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.
“Ah, bleak and chill the wintry wind” by Alfred Burt, will continue the yearly Boychoir tradition of honoring Ann Arbor’s musical history with a Burt Family Carol.
Other selections include “Hallelu,” an evocative piece by beloved choral composer Stephen Paulus, one of John Rutter’s classic and raucous Christmas anthems—“Donkey Carol,” Philip Ledger’s vivacious “Sussex Carol,” a beautiful setting of “Balulalow” by British composer James Burton, and the driving and lively “Brightest and Best” by Shawn Kirchener.
Traditional hymns with audience participation will include "Hark! the herald angels sing", and "O come, all ye faithful.”
The Boychoir of Ann Arbor is 501(c)3 non-profit organization offering choral music opportunities for boys who like to sing and presenting choral performances for our community.
