Event Details

Biodynamics is still a relatively new understanding in the alternative farming and gardening movement. It is a transformative practice rooted in the French Tradition to agriculture. While organic, permaculture and biodynamic methods may overlap; biodynamics goes beyond these now mainstream practices, diving deeper into the understandings of soils, restoration, intercropping with nature, lunar and solar influences, ecology, farm and habitat planning, plus understanding the natural process of water and influence of water.

In this workshop participants will submerge themselves in a robust session on the inner development of the farm, biodynamic perspectives on the co-evolution between earth and humanity, and principles to growing and our partnership with nature. Lead by Burnt Toast Farms own Jason Eugene, a Master Gardener and long-time practitioner of urban agriculture, environmental planning and community food systems, now a full-time farmer; he will lead the class in a highly instructive and methodological exploration in biodynamic agriculture. The workshop promises to go beyond anything you may have learned in permaculture courses of the past. What Jason has done at his farm is heretical to conventional methods, but still highly productive, producing on a large-scale and still remaining true to a holistic approach to farming. The workshop will provide a clear framework to sustainable ag, including the integration and understanding of how livestock plays a role in farm operations, biomes, and natural capitalization.

CLASS SCHEDULE

The workshop schedule and materials will be emailed to each participant upon reservation in the class. Required supplies include: garden shears, gloves, notebook. Attendees should dress appropriately for outdoor classroom.
