Description

Teaching writing to early elementary students happens over a series of scaffolded stages. During this session, participants will explore ways to utilize a balanced approach to writing in order to foster student independence. Following a gradual release scaffold, participants will explore the stages of teaching writing, including modeled writing, shared writing, interactive writing, and guided writing.

By the end of this session, participants will:

-deepen their understanding of the components of a balanced approach to writing in a K-2 classroom -learn how to plan and implement writing supports using a gradual release -develop a toolbox of best writing practices in a K-2 balanced literacy classroom
