Event description

Description

I will guide you through some of the most beautiful views in Southern California at sunset while sharing some mind-blowing historical trivia bombs on ya.

We will meet at the King Neptune fountain in the historic Malaga Cove Plaza (the first market on the hill), then go up and over the Malaga Dunes, along the Olmsted Creek trail, across the Del Sol Fire trail, down through the neighborhood, passed the infamous La Venta Inn (the first structure ever built on the hill) across Palos Verdes Blvd, down into Bluff Cove, where we will be mesmerized by the ocean and bluffs (and learn a little about what was originally planned to be developed here). We will then head back to Malaga Plaza along the Bluff Top Trail, we will walk by the Neighborhood Church (formerly JJ Haggerty’s haunted mansion and beach, which is even name dropped in the famous Beach Boys song “Surfin’ USA”.

The entire hike is a 5 mile loop and will take approximately 2 hours. It’s a beginner to intermediate hike - with a few moderate elevation climbs at the beginning and the end, it’s recommended to wear good hiking shoes, a hat, sunscreen , bring a bottle of water and don’t forget your cameras!

Parking tips: In the Malaga Plaza parking lot there are both 2 hour spots and 4 hour spots, try to get a 4 hour spot (closer to Main Street) so you don’t stress. There is also street parking.
