Description

Join us on November 23rd during our 9th annual Thankful to Give on Thanksgiving Day event in Los Angeles, CA.

Socks4Souls is an organization dedicated to passing out common necessities, conversations, and smiles every Thanksgiving Day. Instead of taking these items to a local shelter, we take them directly to people in need.

It will be a great day as we are dedicating ourselves to passing out socks, coats, blankets, hygiene kits and bottles of water. Instead of taking these items to a local shelter, we will solicit the help of people like you, and along with conversations and smiles, take donations directly to an area in Downtown Los Angeles, Skid Row, that houses up to 11,000 homeless individuals.

Our theme is abundance, we'd like to invite you to bring socks, coats, blankets, hygiene kits and bottles of water so that we can serve more people in our community. If you don't have anything to bring, STILL COME, the most important part of our day will be the conversations and smiles we'll provide!

We are a group of ordinary people, helping people in need in an extraordinary way. And we need you, and your heart to serve, in order to make an immediate impact in our community. We hope to see you at the 9th annual event that will take place in Los Angeles, California on November 23rd.

Plan to meet at the Flowers Street entrance of the 7th Street Metro Center Station at 8:30am.

*FAQs

Q-Is there an age limit to enter the event?

A-There is no age limit! Children are welcome to attend the event. We ask that you please consider the following when deciding to bring them:

-We will be walking 3 miles round trip during the event
-Our mission involves going directly to areas where people are in need, outside of shelters. This means we are in their world, and in their reality. In this reality, we may see alcoholism, drug use, violence, cursing, and mental illnesses.
-In 8 years of serving, we haven't had any issues. Also, LAPD, specifically Lead Officer Deon Joseph, is aware of our group and presence in the community.

Q-What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

A-Feel free to take the Metro, it will be the easiest way to get to the event. If you drive, you will find street parking near 7th St. Metro Center Station. There are also parking garages located on S. Flowers St. (Midtown Garage) as well as along 8th Street.
Please note, while this is a walking event, there will be a van that will carry our donations and any volunteers if necessary.

#
Q-What can/can't I bring to the event?
A-Please bring socks, coats, blankets, hygiene kits and bottles of water. We ask that you DO NOT BRING FOOD, depending on how and where it's prepared, it could be against the law.
Also, apart of our mission is to align with LAPD and their efforts. An LAPD effort is to get people off the street and into the several shelters in and near the area. We will use our platform to talk about the shelters and encourage obtaining a hot meal there.

If you would like to bring hygiene kits, please place in a small bag a variety of the following items:
Socks (new or gently used)
Toothbrushes/Toothpaste
Mouthwash/Floss
Washcloths
Combs/Brushes
Soap/Body wash
Band-Aids
Toilette paper
