9th Annual Robin Lotane Hurricane Run #DontGetBlownAway
The American Red Cross Capital Area Florida Chapter will be hosting the 9th Annual Hurricane 5K Run & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, October 8, 2016. This year's event will include additional options for participants to face NEW, exciting disaster-themed challenges along the race course. Note: These challenges do not impact or interfere with the traditional 5K course and runners do not have to participate in these challenges unless they choose to. All finishers will enjoy a Hurricane after-party with refreshments, awards and opportunities to hone their skills and knowledge of all things Red Cross. This great, fundraising event raises much needed funds to support our local Chapter’s vital programs and services to the Big Bend community in helping prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

The Hurricane Run began in 2007 as a vision of Robin Lotane, long-time board member for the Capital Area Florida Chapter and local prominent attorney. Robin wanted to create a family-friendly, community event to strengthen awareness about the Red Cross mission and raise much needed funds to continue the delivery of essential Red Cross services throughout the Big Bend area. In 2010, we renamed the run the Robin Lotane Hurricane Run, in honor of Robin after she lost her battle with cancer. Her husband, Bob Lotane, as well as family members and friends have continued to carry on Robin's legacy through this community event, with Bob at the helm as Race Director.
