On Saturday, January 19th, you are cordially invited to the 9th Annual Dr. King Awards Dinner at the Martin Luther King Center. Join us as we celebrate this year's community award recipients.

Our theme this year is Celebrating Women of Our Community Who Influence, Change and Impact Lives with guest speaker Mrs. Tanikia Carpenter, Actress, Writer, Producer and Founder of Black Owned Chicago.

Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.

About Our Guest Speaker:


Mrs. Tanikia Carpenter
Tanikia Carpenter is an actress, writer and producer based in Chicago. With a love for the Black community, she created Black Owned Chicago in 2015 as a way to highlight and support Black entrepreneurship. In 2018 she produced The Black Monologues which is an annual event that celebrates Black actors. Tanikia is the author of When God Said Yes and The 30 Day Man Fast. She is married to the love of her life, Stephen Carpenter and they are the proud parents to a beautiful baby girl, India Summer.
