About this Event

Feeling stuck, frustrated, burned-out, or overwhelmed in your work (or life)? Searching for inspiration, time to reflect, and connection with other birth workers beyond your community? Then my mini-retreats are for you!

Upcoming dates: (more will be scheduled throughout 2020). Check your time zone here >

  • Saturday, April 4, from 3 - 5 pm (PDT)
  • Sunday, May 3, from 2-4 pm (PDT)

Care professionals such as midwives, nurses, doulas, educators, healers, and counselors spend a lot of time and energy caring for others, often under stressful conditions. Sometimes, despite our best efforts and training, outcomes are not what we (or our clients) hope for, or we struggle with challenging births, clients, and colleagues. "Suck it up" or "try harder" are not sustainable mindsets and can result in burn-out, fatigue, moodiness, strain on our relationships, and even physical ailments.

These {online} retreats are designed especially for YOU-- those who work with families in the antenatal/postnatal time. This events aim to "refill your cup" with transformative tools and processes for more effectively and mindfully caring for yourself and your clients. Whether you are new to birth-work or a seasoned professional, you'll benefit from this solution-focused, practical, and inspirational retreat. Taking time for reflection is important in helping overcome burn-out, frustration, vicarious (secondary) trauma, and caregiver fatigue. When we commit to taking time for personal development, we rediscover and reconnect to deeper meaning in our work and life. This allows us to be our best selves and provide optimal care and support to families with more ease, purpose, effectiveness, and joy.

Mindfulness, journaling, art-making, storytelling, movement. Through a series of thoughtful, creative, and inspiring activities, we'll tend to our hearts, minds, and bodies. Every retreat is different; attend just one, or come to them all. There will be something new and delicious at each one. We'll also explore empowering ways to listen more deeply (to ourselves and to our clients), in order to be more effective and compassionate. You will leave with: a deeper connection to yourself and to the mysteries of birth; a new awareness of yourself, your work, and your clients; a more positive and purposeful outlook; and specific holistic processes and activities you can use to help empower clients.

Virginia Bobro (workshop facilitator) has been providing education, support, and personal development to birth professionals and parents globally since 2005. She is also an artist, quilter, writer, and childbirth educator. For nine years, she co-owned Birthing From Within, and managed their certification and training programs for eight years. Cost: $29. Space is limited, so register soon to save your spot! (Half-price for BIPoC: please email me for discount code.)

When is the event? There are several retreat dates already scheduled. All times listed here are in PDT/Los Angeles time. Check your time zone here >

  • Saturday, April 4, from 3 - 5 pm
  • Sunday, May 3, from 2-4 pm

New days/times will be added throughout the year. Check the [Select a Date] menu in the upper-right of this event page for the most up-to-date schedule.

What if I can't attend "live" or miss part of the retreat? The whole retreat will be recorded, and all registered participants will receive a link to the video recording, to watch (or re-watch) at your convenience. You'll have access to it for at least six months.

What should I bring to class? You may want to bring a favorite nourishing beverage and tasty treats to nibble on. You're encouraged to bring a notebook/journal and something to write with. We will be doing simple expressive art processes: Bring any art-making supplies you have on hand (crayons, watercolors, colored pencils, markers, etc.) and plain (unlined) white drawing paper (regular printer paper is okay). No need to buy anything special.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions? You can contact Virginia Bobro (facilitator) through her website: www.vbobro.com/#connect

What's the refund policy? Due to the retreat being recorded and all registrants having access to the recording, no refunds are available.
