Description

Why Prosecutors Do What They Do: Building Effective Partnerships Between Prosecutors and Victim Counsel

Victims’ attorneys and prosecutors may seem to be speaking different languages at times. The interests of victims are best served when victims’ attorneys and prosecutors understand one another. This training will cover the sometimes competing legal and ethical obligations that prosecutors must uphold in their pursuit of justice for victims, the defendant and the government. The training will also provide ideas for best practices in ensuring effective communication and collaboration between prosecutors and victims’ attorneys to achieve a victim-centered prosecution.

Presenters:

Katharine Manning, President and Founder of Blackbird LLC
Sarah McClellan, Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of Victim Witness Assistance Unit at U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia

MCLE Accreditation: An application will be submitted to Oregon State Bar for 1.0 general MCLE credit. This program will be approved for 1.0 general MCLE credit with the State Bar of California; NCVLI is an approved CA multiple activity provider.
