Event description

Description

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds.

For eight years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and many other cities—including right here in San Antonio!

Make your FREE reservation for the SAN ANTONIO screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by children's authors James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and Texas' own Carolyn Flores (Canta, Rana, Canta and more).

We'll be showing movies made by kids in San Antonio and some of the best from around the country.

This year, the San Antonio 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 2-4 pm at the Mays Family Center at the Witte Museum (3801 Broadway St.). A reception follows immediately after. James and Carolyn's books will be available for sale thanks to The Twig Book Shop, and you can hang out with the authors and filmmakers!

Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. This thing fills up every year! Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket.

(Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery movie? Great! You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com.)

We rely on your support to keep the 90-Second Newbery going! If you like what we do, please consider making a donation here.

Major support is provided by Bexar County's Digital Library Bibliotech and the Hidalgo Foundation made possible through the generosity of H-E-B.
