Event description

Description

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds.

For eight years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and many other cities—including right here in Minneapolis!

Make your FREE reservation for the MINNEAPOLIS screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by children's authors James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and Newbery Medal winner Kelly Barnhill (The Girl Who Drank the Moon).

We'll be showing movies made by kids in Minnesota and some of the best from around the country.

This year, the Minneapolis 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, April 25, 2020 from 3-4:30 pm at the Hennepin County Library—Minneapolis Central. James and Kelly's books will be available for sale, courtesy of the Red Balloon Bookshop, and you can hang out with the authors and filmmakers!

Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket.

(Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery movie? Great! You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com.)

We rely on your support to keep the 90-Second Newbery going! If you like what we do, please consider making a donation here.

Major support is provided by the Minnesota Department of Education.
