Event description

Description

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds.

For eight years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and many other cities—including right here in Brooklyn!

Make your FREE reservation for the BROOKLYN screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by children's authors James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and Newbery Honor winner Rita Williams-Garcia (One Crazy Summer and more).

We'll be showing movies made by kids from New York and some of the best from around the country.

This year, the Brooklyn 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 1-3 pm at the Brooklyn Public Library in the Dweck auditorium. James's and Rita's books will be for sale thanks to Stories Bookshop + Storytelling Lab, and you can hang out with the authors and filmmakers!

Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket.

(Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery movie? You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com.)

We rely on your support to keep the 90-Second Newbery going! If you like what we do, please consider making a donation here.
